The Music

Acceptance
I have battled my weight for years. After my daughter was born I worked very hard on my health and lost 80 pounds. I remember looking at myself in the mirror and, instead of feeling proud of what I had accomplished, felt disgusted because I still was not "perfect." I began to wonder why I was so obsessed with physical perfection, and was this pursuit helping or hurting me? Did I love the people I love because of how they looked? Was this silly quest serving me or just taking time and energy away from more important things?

Bard Song
A song to honor the original storytellers and songwriters. It is because of their great skill that the ancient nature myths are alive and vibrant today.

Believe
I wrote this song for my daughter and all children-at-heart. It is about a magical friendship between a fairy and a human child. The fairy teaches the child to always believe in herself and in her dreams.

Soul of Nature
An original, meditative Celtic melody set to the "Charge of the Goddess" by (and in honor of) Doreen Valiente. To me, these words are the essence of what Joseph Campbell called "The Quest."

Spring Love
This song began as a Valentine poem for my husband. It perfectly expresses both my feelings for him and about that blessed time of year when the days begin to noticeably lengthen and the gray bleakness seems to give way to sunlight and sweet spring air.

Crossroads
This is a song about coming to a point where you have to make a life-changing decision. Crossroads asks the questions... Do you believe in the magic in your life? Do you have the faith to take the leap and follow your dreams? Are you being true to yourself? Are you showing the world who you truly are and all you have to offer?

Dance With Me
A light-hearted jig about not taking life too seriously.

Harvest
The Mother Goddess symbolizes the earth giving forth a bountiful harvest. The Crone symbolizes the wisdom of our grandmothers. She teaches us to take time to rest and reflect.

Herne
A Celtic god who embodies masculine energy. He symbolizes the dark time of the year. Autumn is his time of power. I always think of this beautiful myth when the autumn leaves begin to fall.

Rise Up Singin'

Lady Moon
Late one January night I took a walk to clear my head. As I walked along that old New England road, I saw not one sign of winter around me, it felt much more like early Autumn. I came to an outcropping of large stones and, as I stood in the center, I felt transported to another time and place. I could sense the peace and wisdom of my ancestors surrounding and guiding me. Over my head the full moon danced above the trees and I felt at one with the natural world around me. The Welsh Celts called the moon Arianrhod, which means "Silver Wheel," and saw her as a mothering figure.

Legends (The Handfasting Song)
This song was written for a dear friend's handfasting (wedding) and has since become known in some circles as the "Handfasting Song." It encompasses my thoughts on what makes love ever-lasting. I believe we should all strive to give and receive love like this.

The Mating Dance/Beltane
(also known as May Day) is an ancient fire festival which celebrates the return of fertility to the earth. It is characterized by bright colors, dancing, singing and merry-making of all kinds. The well-know May Pole harkens back to a time when the potent male energy rejoins the Mother Earth to begin a new season of planting and raising crops. Many wild and magical things are said to occur on this day!
